How Much Can I Save Buying with Prevu vs Redfin?

At first glance, Prevu and Redfin might seem like similar services to buyers given they are both tech-enabled brokerages. However, there are a few big differences if you take a deeper dive that make Prevu the best choice for your home purchase.

Larger savings with Prevu vs Redfin

Let’s jump to the most important part ... the SAVINGS! While Redfin used to offer modest rebates to buyers, that amount they offer has declined considerably over time. Prevu on the other hand provides the largest buyer commission rebates in the industry, and are typically 3x to 8x larger than Redfin’s refunds in comparable markets. In many instances, the additional savings Prevu offers is even more than that.

At Prevu we believe in transparency and give back two-thirds of our commission up to 2% of your purchase price, subject to market minimums. Redfin’s refunds are less straightforward and don’t publish a consistent calculation for buyers. Looking at a larger sample across Northeast markets, Redfin’s publicly quoted rebates equate to around 0.20-0.40% of the purchase price, while Prevu’s rebates are typically between 1.33-2.0% of the purchase price.

No third-party agents, better results

Another point to be aware of is that Redfin will in some cases pass you off to "partner" brokerages. You sign up on Redfin’s site but you get paired with a different brokerage’s agent. There are two main things to consider with this scenario. First, these transactions are not eligible for a Redfin Refund, so you miss out completely on savings when you buy. Second, you are dealing with a third party agent that may not have the same level of experience.
